Delivering fresh starts since 2022

Meridian sits in Ada County, and that matters once it's time to deal with a stack of tires. The county's landfill and transfer station are the only legal places tires can end up here, and both charge a fee and expect a load that shows up a certain way.

Boise Tire Removal handles tire pickup and disposal across the Treasure Valley, from the older lots around Old Town Meridian to newer subdivisions like Paramount and Lochsa Falls, and we take care of the sorting and the drop-off so nobody has to load a truck bed by hand.

What the city will pick up (and what it won't)

Meridian's curbside trash contract runs through Republic Services, and single-family homes get a set number of free bulky-item pickups each calendar year for things like furniture and appliances.

Tires aren't on that list. The city's bulky program excludes tires specifically, right alongside hot tubs, pianos, bathtubs, boats and construction debris. So no matter how many tires you've got, curbside pickup isn't the path.

The city also runs seasonal cleanup events like Trash or Treasure in spring and Recycle the Fall in autumn, but those lean toward yard waste and general bulky items, not tires. If you've got a handful left over from a project or a cleanout, you're looking at a transfer station run or a hauler either way.

Where the tires actually end up

Ada County handles this through two points: the Meridian Transfer Station on West Franklin Road, and the Ada County Landfill at Hidden Hollow, up in the north Boise foothills off Seamans Gulch Road.

Both take tires, both charge a per-tire fee, and both expect the load tarped or otherwise secured before it comes through the gate. The transfer station is the closer option for most of Meridian; the landfill is the longer drive, out past Boise toward the foothills.

Mixed loads need sorting before they get there. Tires are billed and handled differently than scrap metal, yard waste or construction debris, so dumping it all together at the scale costs more time, not less. Keep tires in their own pile, separate from metal, wood and anything treated or painted.

Mistakes that slow a tire job down

A few things trip up tire jobs around here more than anything else:

  • Assuming the city's bulky pickup covers tires. It doesn't, at any volume.
  • Loading tires loose in an open truck bed instead of tarping or strapping them down.
  • Mixing tires in with scrap metal or yard waste, which the county sorts and bills separately.
  • Bringing in tires alongside waste from outside Ada County, which the landfill and transfer station don't accept.
  • Underestimating how many tires are sitting in a pile that's been in a shed or side yard for years. Fees run per tire, so count before you load up.

Whether it's a handful of tires from a garage cleanout or a bigger load off a Meridian property, sorting them right and getting them to the correct site the first time beats a second trip.

Boise Tire Removal handles the sorting, the hauling and the drop-off, so you don't have to work out county rules on your own. Call for a free estimate.
