Tire Removal in Ten Mile Area, Meridian

Ten Mile is one of Meridian's fastest-growing corners, with newer master-planned neighborhoods like Lochsa Falls, Paramount, Bridgetower, Tuscany, Settlers Bridge and Spurwing sitting alongside a stretch of older homes near Old Town Meridian. A lot of these properties collect tires without anyone planning for it: a trailer that's been parked since the last move, a set of winter tires swapped out in the garage, mower or ATV tires from a bigger lot out past Ten Mile Road.

Because so much of the area is newer construction, those tires usually end up stacked in a three-car garage rather than left outside to weather. That works fine until someone decides it's time to clear them out, and that's when the questions start: where are tires even allowed to go, and what does it take to get them there properly?

Where tires actually go once they leave the property

Ada County runs the Ada County Landfill at Hidden Hollow, up in the north Boise foothills off Seamans Gulch Road. Most Ten Mile jobs lean on the closer option instead: the Meridian Transfer Station on West Franklin Road, which feeds into the same county system without the drive out to the landfill itself.

Both sites take tires, but tires don't get treated like regular trash or construction debris. They're priced and handled separately, because they have to be pulled out and sent off for recycling rather than buried with everything else. That's the part people don't expect - a job with a mix of old fencing, yard waste and a handful of tires has to be sorted before drop-off, not after, so the tires can be counted and handled on their own.

  • Ada County Landfill (Hidden Hollow) and the Meridian Transfer Station (W Franklin Rd) both accept tires, for a per-tire fee
  • Freon-containing appliances carry their own separate fee if they're part of the same load
  • Hazardous waste isn't accepted in a mixed load at either site
  • Loads need to be tarped or secured before they're weighed in
  • Waste generated outside Ada County isn't accepted at the landfill

Why Meridian's bulky pickup program skips tires

Meridian residents get bulky-item pickup through the city's contract with Republic Services, including a handful of free pickups each calendar year for single-family homes. It's genuinely useful for old furniture and appliances. Tires, though, are specifically left off the list - along with hot tubs, pianos, bathtubs and boats.

So if what you've got is a stack of tires from the garage, or a trailer load left behind after cleaning out a rental, the curbside program isn't the answer. The alternative is making a trip to the transfer station yourself and sorting out the per-tire fee on-site, which gets old fast once you're dealing with more than a couple. That gap - between what the city will take curbside and what the transfer station will take for a fee - is usually where it makes more sense to have someone else haul the tires out and handle the drop-off.

Tire removal in Ten Mile isn't complicated, but it does mean knowing which site takes what, what gets charged separately, and what Meridian's own pickup program won't touch. Get that part right and the rest is just logistics.
